With the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli celebrated, there is another Gallipoli centenary which is often over looked. Commencing on the 8th December 1915 and culminating on the 20th December 1915, the allied forces successfully evacuated approximately 90,000 troops without serious injury and right under the Turks’ noses. On the last two nights, history reports that 20,000 troops were evacuated.
